The appointee will join the existing Oncoplastic Breast Surgical Team. We are looking for a highly motivated person with a specialist interest in breast oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery.
The appointee will be expected to participate in the day to day running of the rapid access service and contribute to the management of both benign and malignant breast conditions.
An interest in research would be desirable as would a higher qualification in oncoplastic surgery.
Active participation in teaching of junior medical colleagues and medical students is expected, as is supporting the specialist nursing staff who are undertaking postgraduate training courses.
Engagement with management in the daily running of the unit and of keeping the unit policies and practices updated in accordance with National Guidelines is expected.
Active participation in clinical governance and audit both internal and National is mandated.

* The appointee will be expected to have a broad understanding, knowledge and UK based experience of breast oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery.
* The appointee will be expected to be familiar with and competent in the investigation and treatment of patients with both benign and malignant breast conditions.
* Responsible for rapid access outpatient clinics, reconstruction clinics, general breast and specialist oncoplastic MDT's .
* To work with colleagues to audit activity and undertake research to ensure uniformly high standard of care.
* To participate in the teaching of undergraduates and other professional groups and to provide clinical supervision and training of junior hospital doctors.
* To participate in continuing professional development activities and in the Trust’s appraisal and assessment processes, which include a formal annual appraisal.
* To participate in revalidation as required by the General Medical Council.
