DECKHAND / RELIEF SKIPPER
The Padstow Harbour Commissioners are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable, friendly and punctual deckhand / relief skipper to work aboard our 40m, 275GT Suction Hopper dredger here at Padstow.
Duties will include working on the Dredger, playing an active role in maintaining systems on the dredging vessel, as well as deck operations whilst at sea and shore maintenance when in port.
In the absence of the skipper the applicant will be expected to take charge of the operations of the dredger, so significant marine experience and boat handling in tight areas will be essential. An understanding of marine engineering and dredger pump systems will be beneficial.
The successful applicant will need to be flexible in their approach to both the duties involved and the hours of work required.
JOB ROLE
* Maintaining systems and equipment on the Vessels.
* Securing Mooring Lines.
* Banks person.
* Tidal shift and occasional weekend work.
* General maintenance of the vessel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MCA Boat Master Tier 2 level 2, VHF/SRC certificate, ENG1 or ML5 Medical, STCW Fire Fighting/Sea Survival/First Aid.
REQUIREMENTS
Marine experience is essential and any marine qualifications will be beneficial, including STCW certificates in Sea Survival, First Aid, Fire Fighting and an ML5/ENG 1 medical document. Engineering qualifications are also beneficial.
HOURS LOCATION AND SALARY
The role is full time, 40 hours per week, overtime available, with timings determined by the tide.
The wage is competitive and will be discussed in the interview process.
Dredging operations are at Padstow on the River Camel.
