The CSM post forms part of the senior management team within Diagnostic Imaging together with the second CSM and the General Manager. The post holder has both sector responsibility and management responsibility for a number of operational functions across imaging in terms of governance, complaints, Datix, waiting‑list management and various HR matters. The post holder also works closely with the Clinical Lead and Sector and Site Superintendents in each sector to ensure that services are delivered, compliant with IR(M)ER, and that staff training and management are in place to guarantee service delivery and patient safety. They collaborate with directorate colleagues to review patient pathways and identify opportunities for service redesign in line with board policies.
The CSM reviews budgets with sector/site superintendents and the finance team monthly, identifying efficiencies and opportunities. In addition to budget control, the role scrutinises study leave expenses, EPA and cost‑per‑case sign‑off, authorises equipment repairs and ensures that financial detriment is avoided and efficiencies achieved.
