Job Description
As the Financial Controller / Head of Finance, you will assume full responsibility for the finance function and act as the principal financial advisor to the directors. Key responsibilities include:
3. Production of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and forecasts
4. Work‑in‑progress, contract accruals and margin analysis
5. Weekly contract and valuation performance tracking
6. Daily cash management and rolling cashflow forecasting
7. Monthly VAT returns, PAYE submissions and CIS compliance
8. End‑to‑end payroll processing and pension administration
9. Overhead analysis and cost control
10. Oversight of sales, nominal, subcontractor and purchase ledgers
11. Maintenance of the fixed asset register
12. Year‑end audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
13. Group reporting and consolidation where required
14. Attendance at monthly management meetings, providing commercial insight
The Successful Applicant
The successful Financial Controller / Head of Finance should meet the following requirements:
15. You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with proven experience in a construction or contracting environment.
16. You will have strong working knowledge of WIP, CIS and cashflow management, and be comfortable operating as the number one finance lead within an owner‑managed business.
