Your New Role...
This is a fixed-term position covering maternity leave.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Counsel for our BLA, Legal Department. In this role, you will dive into the commercial and legal aspects of WBD’s content commission, co-production, acquisition, and talent deals across the EMEA markets, with a special focus on Italy, Spain, France, and Kids content. If you have a strong background in commercial intellectual property matters and a pragmatic approach, we want to hear from you!
Your Role Accountabilities...
* Negotiate all commercial and legal terms related to programming acquisition, commissioning, and co-production for Warner Bros. Discovery’s services, ensuring compliance with internal budget guidelines.
* Draft and negotiate various programming agreements, including development, acquisition, commission, co-production, format, licensing, and distribution agreements.
* Collaborate with network and third-party production companies to finalize agreements.
* Work closely with the Business Affairs & Legal Senior Director and creative teams to advise on legal and business affairs matters, anticipating legal concerns and providing solutions.
* Conduct market intelligence research to support business initiatives as directed.
* Provide ongoing legal advice to internal clients regarding production, broadcast clearance, copyright, and other content-related issues.
* Troubleshoot various programming business and legal issues, including drafting responses to claims and assisting with legal compliance reviews.
* Update the department’s template agreements and maintain internal databases and tracking mechanisms.
Qualifications & Experience...
* Experience in media or television, with knowledge of business and legal affairs in the entertainment industry, particularly in commissioning and acquiring TV rights.
* Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and contract analysis skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to thrive under pressure.
* Proven ability to manage a high volume of work while prioritizing tasks effectively.
Working Conditions
This role is offered as a Hybrid work model, combining remote and in-office work in line with our company policy. Your Line Manager will discuss the specifics with you, and adjustments may be made as business needs evolve.
