Job title: WTA Principal Engineer Location: Portsmouth Salary: £55,080 depending on skills and experience What you'll be doing: Leading a multi-disciplined onsite engineering team to assure that complex solutions are embodied onto the Platform in accordance with Design Intent and to correct quality standards in line with project timescales and contractual requirements Applying understanding and knowledge of military and civilian design standards to assure maintenance of design intent throughout the project Acting as the onsite Technical Authority for the resolution of Design Queries and front line engineering issues Providing technical leadership for the delivery and acceptance of key test and assurance events, including Installation Inspections, setting to work and commissioning trials to assure that the solution embodiment is delivered to design intent and that all requirements, including safety related requirements have been achieved Ensuring that engineering programme integration for onsite activities (including Key OEM contractors) is robust with dependencies understood, captured and proactively managed Providing updates into the Lead Engineer to ensure that project reporting accurately reflects progress and any risks and issues are suitably highlighted Maintaining effective ongoing communication and managing the relationships with onsite stakeholders including DE&S, Royal Navy, key OEMs such as GE, MTU, NGUK, Tyco and Darchem, and the Shipyard Repair Team Your skills and experiences: Chartered Engineer or equivalent experience Experience on ship platforms Engineering experience with knowledge of multiple disciplines (although not necessary to be an in depth expert on other disciplines) Ability to manage a team of Engineers Benefits: You'll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. The team: Would you like to support and provide governance and oversight of Engineering decisions that affect the Platform and Auxiliary systems of the complex warships that are supported in Portsmouth. We currently have a vacancy for a WTA Platform & Auxiliary Systems Principal Engineer. As Principal Engineer you will undertake a defined range of engineering activities in line with the extant Common Support Model Work Breakdown Structure, the CSM Business Processes and relevant BAES Business Management Processes/ Procedures. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the design intent and safety of platform and auxiliary systems and to collate the assurance evidence of this for the respective WAA while working under the definitive engineering authority of the appropriate Class Lead Engineer (CLE). In addition to this, this role sits as part of the wider WTA team supporting all RN complex warships. As such there will be the opportunity to provide support to all classes including T45, QEC, Hunt and T23 as required. As the world has evolved, so has the way we work.
