Assembly Technician - Automotive Refuse Equipment
Location: Leyland
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Assembly Technician to join my client's market‑leading automotive manufacturing team in Leyland. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the production of high-quality refuse collection equipment fitted to commercial vehicles used across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Installation
Assemble and install refuse collection systems onto commercial vehicle chassis.
Fit mechanical components, hydraulic assemblies, and electrical fixtures according to drawings and build specifications.
Use a range of hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, and impact wrenches to complete tasks safely and efficiently.Quality & Safety
Carry out inspections and functional tests to ensure all builds meet quality and safety standards.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working area.
Follow all health & safety procedures, including correct PPE use.Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with production supervisors and engineering teams to troubleshoot build issues.
Report defects, delays, or material shortages promptly.
Support continuous improvement activities within the workshop.
Required Skills & Experience
Previous experience in automotive assembly, mechanical fitting, or similar production roles.
Competent using power tools and familiar with fasteners, fixings, and torque settings.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and build instructions.
Must supply own basic hand tools (spanners, sockets, screwdrivers).
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality.
Physically fit and comfortable working on your feet throughout the shift.
Desirable Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Forklift or overhead crane certification.
Experience working with hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
