Job Title: Assistant Head of Department – (SEND) Inclusion
Hours: 37 hours per week, Full Year
Salary: £44,409 per annum
Annual Leaver Entitlement: 42 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
Location: Cambridge & Huntingdon
Responsibilities
* Work with teams to embed equality and diversity and inclusion practices to ensure students with SEND and High Needs are provided with a clear and ambitious personalised curriculum.
* Embed English and Maths within vocational learning and across the Supported Learning Department.
* Ensure staffing and daily timetables of learning support are maximised to support high levels of achievement and attainment for students.
* Be accountable for implementing high levels of personalised curricula for students with High Needs with ambitious and stretching outcomes.
* Oversee the use of college systems linked to learning support.
* Champion inclusivity within the department through effective mentoring with colleagues and model excellent inclusive practice in the classroom/workspace.
* Lead a collaborative approach to planning, preparation and adaptation of resources and learning support mentors to help all students reach their full potential, including those with high needs.
Requirements
* Clear leadership qualities and readiness for a new challenge within the Supported Learning leadership team.
* High-level understanding of special educational needs and enjoyment of working with students, next of kin, professionals and stakeholders.
* Strong pedagogic practice with ability to lead and inspire others around inclusion and supporting students with high needs; understanding of evidence required for audits around the learner journey.
* Experience developing curriculum opportunities within the department and collaborating with stakeholders to support the SEND agenda at Cambridge Regional College.
* Experience of internal quality assurance for accredited and non-accredited programmes; ability to work with internal college teams (exams, student records, MIS) to ensure all student records are up to date.
* Extensive experience working in a discrete or specialist SEND department in a college or school with post-16 experience.
* Strong relationship-focused management approach, including HR policies, staff wellbeing, and engaging teams with high levels of staff satisfaction; ability to implement reasonable adjustments to promote inclusion and access to the curriculum.
