We are a local charity, seeking to employ a highly organised and efficient Generalist Adviser to join our team and be part of a new and innovative outreach project.
Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and listening skills, alongside teamwork, problem-solving, being organised, working to deadlines, and having a strong passion for helping people find solutions to problems and becoming empowered to take control of their own situation.
You will receive a comprehensive training package that will develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of topics, and you will be trained on how to offer free, impartial, and confidential advice to the citizens of Caithness. This rewarding role will involve supporting individuals and families, keeping clients informed, researching and utilising advice information systems, and accurately recording data using internal processes. You must have the ability to use technology comfortably, work flexibly, and travel to a variety of locations within our geographic area.
Duties
· You will be a public face of Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau and undertake your duties with professionalism and empathy for our clients
· You will be expected to use the tools and processes available to you to resolve the client's wants and needs. These would include initial training, on-the-job training, and acting in accordance with supervisor and management guidance
· You will use personal and interpersonal skills to discuss client needs and achieve the best outcome for them
· You will use Citizens Advice Information systems to find, interpret, and communicate the relevant information in accordance with training, processes, and supervisor/management guidance
· You will undertake necessary follow-up activity, which may include, for example, acting for the client where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting, or writing letters, and using written and/or oral communication to keep clients updated
· You will negotiate on behalf of the client with third parties, for example, statutory and non-statutory bodies, as appropriate
· You will maintain detailed case records for continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring, report preparation, and quality assurance
· You will carry out the quantity and quality of work which can be reasonably expected of a generalist adviser, measured over time
· You will work towards achieving efficiency and quality objectives that align with our values
· You will be expected to engage in outreach and community work as directed by your team leader and chief officer
Experience
* Proven experience and/or a clear aptitude towards supporting people in need, including the most vulnerable in our society
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
* Use of technology in the workplace
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.21-£14.70 per hour
