Position Title
Health Care Support Worker – Band 3
Location and Working Pattern
* Permanent position, 36 hours per week.
* Shift pattern: rotational, mixture of early/late and 12‑hour shifts.
* Based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Responsibilities
* Assist registered nurses and clinical team in the care of patients undergoing elective surgical procedures.
* Support admission, transfer and discharge processes in line with procedures.
* Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes or concerns promptly.
* Assist with basic wound care, dressing application, and minor procedures such as urinalysis and specimen collection.
* Provide personal care support including hygiene, nutrition, hydration and safe patient repositioning.
* Maintain a clean, safe and well‑stocked clinical environment, reporting faults and concerns.
* Contribute to accurate patient documentation and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, including infection control, COSHH, fire safety, and manual handling.
Qualifications and Experience
* SVQ Level 2 or willing to achieve within first year of employment.
* Relevant experience in a caring environment.
* Completion of mandatory induction standards for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland.
* Compliance with the Code of Conduct throughout employment.
