About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Surface Water Drainage Engineer to join our Water Catchment Management team to help shape our extensive programme of flood risk management and drainage works. Your primary role will involve coordinating and guiding design teams to deliver surface water drainage schemes from inception through to detailed design and construction in a variety of sectors including highways, rail, airports and other developments. The role will also involve seeking to grow our portfolio of work with local authorities, particularly in the development of SuDS and green infrastructure schemes in London and the Southeast.
You will join our team of over 1,000 Water and Natural Environment professionals, working on a range of high-profile projects and become a part of a world leading company with excellent career prospects. Supported by the wider team, you will have a varied role which could involve:
* Design team coordination including coordinating outline and detailed design of surface water drainage solutions including SuDS / green infrastructure, piped drainage, and design for exceedance projects
* Checking and reviewing calculations and technical deliverables, including hydraulic models, design calculations, Flood Risk Assessments and surface water drainage strategies
* Project and design management of schemes, delivering projects to time and to budget
* Development of pricing and technical methodology for new commissions
* Mentoring less experienced colleagues through their technical and professional development
Here's What You'll Need:
Chartered or working towards Chartership with ICE, CIWEM or another appropriate organisation
Highly effective communicator, with experience of mentoring and training to support junior staff development
Extensive working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies
Extensive practical design experience of SuDS / green infrastructure, and gravity piped drainage
Experience of site supervision / construction of SuDS
Experience of using MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Infoworks ICM or Causeway Flow
