The role
As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll help ensure that some of the UK’s most important marine and defence engineering programmes are delivered safely, effectively and to the highest standards. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer to assess compliance across management systems, drive improvements in quality performance, and provide expert support that helps keep people, platforms and operations safe.
Day-to-day, you’ll work across multiple project areas, interact with internal and external stakeholders, and shape how quality assurance is applied across complex marine environments. It’s an opportunity to deepen your expertise, strengthen your technical leadership and be part of work that directly supports national security.
1. Support customer‑facing interactions and reviews relating to quality requirements.
2. Assist the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer in measuring and reviewing compliance with contractual, company and ISO requirements.
3. Provide expertise to supply chain teams by collecting and analysing supplier quality data.
4. Conduct reactive audits, investigations and supplier surveillance visits.
5. Review quality documentation, including Project Quality Plans, procurement documentation and contract amendments.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements may require travel across a range of internal and customer sites
Essential experience of the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer
6. Experience managing quality assurance and quality control within an engineering sector, including supply chain.
7. Demonstrated application of problem‑solving and/or lean tools.
8. Experience supporting complex assurance requirements relating to systems requiring enhanced quality, safety or assurance.
9. Competence reviewing technical documentation and understanding engineering processes.
10. Strong communicator with an aptitude for learning new methods, techniques and principles.
Qualifications for the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer
11. HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (Engineering preferred)
12. QMS Lead Auditor Course (UKAS accredited)
13. Additional quality or audit‑related certifications - Desirable

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
