I'm currently recruiting for a Thermal Development Manager who will lead the commercial development of key thermal projects (CCGT/OCGT) from early-stage planning through to financial close. This role involves securing a route to market, managing development strategies, negotiating major contracts, and ensuring governance and reporting requirements are met. It also includes overseeing joint venture relationships and contributing to the organisations overall energy strategy.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage thermal project development, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
* Oversee participation in market capacity auctions, including bid preparation and compliance.
* Negotiate and finalise contracts to meet project and strategic objectives.
* Monitor budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with delivery schedules.
* Collaborate with internal teams on investment cases, financial planning, and securing necessary consents and licenses.
* Mentor and develop project teams, fostering innovation and high performance.
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Requirements:
* Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
* 10+ years' experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects with a proven track record in delivery.
* Strong knowledge of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation.
* Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks in Ireland.
* Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and contract negotiation skills.
* Professional project management certification (e.g. PMP) is desirable.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget control, procurement, and resource optimisation.
* Background in Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Technology, or Grid Infrastructure beneficial.
