Mechanical Fitter Defence Manufacturing Bolton | Long term contract opportunities
Were working with a leading UK defence manufacturer in Bolton to recruit experienced Mechanical Fitters to support ongoing build and test programmes. This is a hands on mechanical fitting role within a clean, structured manufacturing environment ideal for fitters who take pride in precision and quality.
What youll be doing Carrying out mechanical assembly, build and test activities in line with engineering instructions
Working from drawings, work instructions and manufacturing data packs
Using a wide range of hand tools, fixtures, gauges and measuring equipment
Certifying your own work in line with product certification and workmanship standards
Completing build documentation accurately and on time
Working as part of a close knit production team to hit build schedules
This role suits fitters who enjoy detailed, repeatable mechanical work, not reactive site maintenance.
What do you need?: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3 Standard
or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, diploma, etc.)
and Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ)
*Not required if a L3 apprenticeship standard has been achieved (These qualifications must meet the standard to be considered for the role).
Additional Skills: Manual handling training.
Lifting & Slinging (Including overhead cranes) and ESD training.
Completion of Apprenticeship required
Tools & Equipment Youll Be Using Manufacturing / Assembly Tools Hand tools including spanners, sockets, Allen keys and screwdrivers
Torque wrenches (including torque setting and witness marking where required)
Bearing presses and mechanical presses
Fixtures, jigs and assembly aids
Drills and pneumatic or electric power tools
Measuring & Inspection Tools Vernier calipers
Micrometers
Steel rules and gauges
Go / No Go gauges
Height gauges and basic inspection tooling
Test & Build Support Equipment Test rigs and mechanical build stations
Hydraulic and pneumatic connections (as applicable)
Overhead cranes and lifting equipment (where trained)
Manufacturing data packs, build instructions and certification records
