We are looking for someone with an electrical background to join our Highways Service at Leeming Bar Depot.
The Team:
The Electrical Engineering Group is part of the Highway Operations section of the Highways and Transportation Service. Its core focus is managing client activities related to over 63,000 street lighting columns and 8,000 illuminated traffic signs, along with delivering the Council’s energy reduction programme.

We have achieved recognition through awards such as the National Green Apple Reward, Bronze Green Apple Award, NHT Improving Public Satisfaction, Excellent Service Award for the LED replacement programme, and an honorable mention in the Council’s efficiencies awards.
The Role:
This opportunity allows you to work as an electrician inspector while supporting the Highways Electrical Engineering team in managing electrical assets. You will learn to organise and manage traffic management projects on various highways and expand your knowledge in highway engineering and emerging technologies like EV Charging.
Candidate Location:
We are interested in candidates from Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Richmond, Harrogate, Selby, and Skipton, but welcome applications from all locations.
What You Will Bring:
Your role is vital in delivering the Highway Electrical service and is often the most visible member of the team. Excellent communication and customer care skills are essential.
Minimum Requirements:
* Knowledge and appreciation of electrical hazards.
* Understanding of the current IEE Wiring Regulations.
* Knowledge of cable testing.
* Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
We have a team of electricians; you can be based anywhere in the county, allocated to your area accordingly.
