Job Specification: Commercial Manager
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 per year
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Role Overview
The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial strategy across the business, driving growth, strengthening customer relationships, and maximising profitability within the bird seed and wildlife product markets. This role is ideal for a commercially minded leader with experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or agriculture/pet food sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Growth
Develop and implement the company's commercial strategy to support revenue growth and long‑term business objectives.
Identify new market opportunities within wild bird food, parrot/aviary feed, and related wildlife product ranges.
Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and pricing structures to maintain a competitive edge.
Sales Leadership
Lead and support the sales team to achieve KPIs and strengthen relationships with key retailers, distributors, and trade partners.
Expand the customer base, including independent retailers, garden centres, pet stores, and wholesalers.
Conduct high-level commercial negotiations on pricing, contracts, and partnerships.
Customer & Account Management
Act as the senior point of contact for major accounts, ensuring excellent service and long-term collaboration.
Support customer retention and implement strategies to enhance customer experience and loyalty.
Product & Category Development
Work closely with Operations, Production, and Marketing to enhance existing product ranges and identify opportunities for new blends, formulations, or wildlife accessories.
Provide commercial insights into product performance, pricing, and packaging.
Financial & Performance Management
Oversee commercial budgeting, forecasting, and P&L responsibility for allocated product areas.
Monitor sales performance metrics and report regularly to senior leadership.
Internal Collaboration
Partner with the production facility in Gilberdyke to ensure supply meets demand and quality standards are upheld.
Support marketing campaigns and brand positioning strategies that reflect the company's heritage and values.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a Commercial Manager, Sales Manager, Category Manager or similar senior commercial role.
Background in FMCG, animal feed, pet food, agriculture, or manufacturing is highly desirable.
Strong negotiation and strategic planning skills.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
Analytical, data‑driven mindset with strong financial acumen.
Ability to manage multiple commercial projects at once.
Qualifications
Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or similar (preferred but not essential).
Full UK Driving Licence (role may involve customer site visits).
