Job Summary:
The Developmental Specialist provides direct care and case management services for a designated group of clients. This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops and implements Day Habilitation Service Plans, IDT, goals, and activities for assigned clients, helping them identify and develop measurable, personalized plans based on their strengths and needs.
2. Teaches developmental skills to enhance independence, including self-care, communication, self-advocacy, self-direction, and activities of daily living such as hygiene, grooming, first aid, and meal preparation.
3. Leads group activities to support Service Plan goals, supervises direct care staff, and ensures program needs are met. Provides coverage for other groups as needed.
4. Documents daily participant activities and assesses progress toward Service Plan objectives, recording updates in progress notes by the 15th of each month.
5. Offers supportive counseling to participants on personal and social issues.
6. Provides services respectfully, adhering to human rights standards, DDS regulations, and organizational policies.
7. Reports health concerns to the Healthcare Supervisor and provides emergency interventions and physical assistance when necessary.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Job Requirements:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. TB screening within the past 12 months and annually thereafter.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
5. Maintains required certifications including CPR and First Aid.
6. Ability to lift 30 pounds and assist individuals with mobility impairments using proper safety protocols.
