We are at our best when we come together in response to managing the network around major events, which include delivering iconic events like RideLondon, Notting Hill Carnival, London Marathon, New Year’s Eve to name just a few in our portfolio. We are also responsible for processing filming applications on the Transport for London route network as well as planning and delivering the ceremonial events in London and the impactful demonstrations, marches, and protests.

The Role
This role is responsible for event/contingency planning and delivery on behalf of Surface Transport by collaboratively working with internal/external stakeholders.
The nature of the role will mean that there will be a requirement to work some hours outside of recognised office hours to support planned events and other activity – this could include weekends, evenings and possibly some nights, sometimes at short notice.

The Candidate (Skills/Knowledge and Experience)
You will be a self-motivated individual able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will have or be able to quickly gain a highly developed knowledge of the NMCC’s operations as well as with our internal and external stakeholders. You will have excellent communication and IT skills, and the ability to influence the best outcome to a situation in line with the NMCC’s & TfL’s key objectives and behaviors.
Skills
* Ability to coordinate multiple deliverables, at differing stages of planning and operation.
* Abi lity to produce and present well planned and effective operational plans and the ability to effectively react to changing circumstances (or the aptitude to learn ).
* Ability to learn TfL ’s technology and systems, including the Microsoft suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams ).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills aligned with the ability to negotiate, influence and represent TfL both internally and externally.
Knowledge
* Experience of planning and management in a dynamic environment.
* An understanding of the transport networks within London and the impact of events and closures within central London.
* The ability to learn the operational delivery of traffic, transport and associated activity.
* Op erational knowledge (or the aptitude to learn) the interactions and interdependencies of TfL operational areas .
Experience
* An understanding of managing events, including the development of plans to support their delivery whilst minimising impact.
* Experience of working with in a time critical environment.
* Experience of engaging with and maintaining effective working relationships with our stakeholders.
* Experience of representing your organisation at structured multi-agency meetings.
