This is an exciting new post based in Dorset, designed topromote and publicise health research across several organisations. Youwill work with minimal supervision to increase the visibility and impact ofhealth research both internally and externally, helping staff understand healthresearch, inspiring people to take part in clinical trials, and helpingpublicise the work of the new commercial research delivery centre (primarycare).

The post holder will work independently on projects insupport of health research in Dorset, specifically The Adam Practice(TAP), Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (DCH), Dorset HealthCareUniversity NHS Foundation Trust (DHC) and University Hospitals Dorset NHSfoundation Trust (UHD).

The post is designed to be multi-media content-generationspecific. Whether a trained journalist or communications professionallooking for your next move, you must be a hands-on, creative and confidentstoryteller keen to bring research to life through engaging copy (newsletters,reports, press releases),

photography, video and social-first content (carousels,bespoke graphics etc). Anyone without these demonstratable skills will not beconsidered.

The role is initially advertised as a one-year contract,with a view to extending if effectiveness is demonstrated.


Main duties of the job

Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical teams, operational colleagues, research partners and industry sponsors.

Act as a key point of contact for communications within the CRDC, providing advice and guidance to colleagues and partners.Represent the CRDC at internal and external meetings and events where required.

Plan, gather and deliver high-quality content for a range of channels, including newsletters, social media, press releases, staff updates, websites, intranet and reports to funding bodies and others.

Tailor messages for different audiences, ensuring communications are clear, engaging and accessible.

Support the development of case studies and success stories to demonstrate the impact of commercial and non-commercial research.

Plan, create and maintain patient-facing CRDC web pages on TAP website

Plan and create marketing and promotional materials for internal and external audiences.

Contribute to the management of digital and social media activity, ensuring alignment with TAP, WHP and partner Trust objectives.

Deliver communications activities that support participant recruitment into commercial research studies. Is the target met, and within the timeframe?

Work with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure recruitment messaging is clear, targeted and effective.

About us

The Adam Practice is a partnership of 16 GPs located across 5 surgeries in Poole, Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing primary care team in a forward- thinking, innovative, general practice, which has a current CQC rating of Outstanding in Care.

Our Research team give the best possible patient care and to benefit our patients. We have been an active research centre for the past 10 years and have worked on early phase studies up to later phase. We are now an accredited NIHR CRDC (Primary Care) facility.

As well as our work at the research hub we are continuing to recruit into complex commercial trials.

INTERNAL

Senior Communications manager, Wessex HealthPartners line manager.

Patient and Public Involvement officer, The AdamPractice support and promote PPI

R&D teams and research staff in DCH, DHC andUHD for developing study-related communications and recruitment campaigns

DCH, DHC and UHD communications and marketingteams to ensure alignment with corporate messaging and policies

EXTERNAL

NIHR and other research funding bodies forreporting and compliance communication

Public and patient groups for awarenessraising and recruitment campaigns

KEY RESULT AREAS

Internal communications

Develop content and campaigns that keepresearch-facing staff informed, engaged and motivated.

Ensure TAP communications align withpartner-wide internal communications approaches.

Monitoring and evaluation

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness ofcommunications and engagement activity, using both qualitative and quantitativemethods.

Gather and maintain a record of metrics, totrack engagement and effectiveness of these outputs

Provide insight and recommendations to informfuture strategies and continuous improvement.

Other

Support senior leaders with planning, reportingand delivery of research objectives.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the roleas required.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related subject OR equivalent experience in a communications role.
* Evidence of continuing professional development in communications, marketing, stakeholder engagement, or related areas.
* Training in equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Media handling or crisis communications training.


Experience

* Minimum of three years experience working in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing role.
* Proven experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including external partners.
* Experience planning, coordinating, and delivering communications projects or campaigns.
* Experience managing social media, including creating content, monitoring engagement, and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
* Experience developing case studies or success stories to demonstrate organisational impact.
* Experience developing social media strategies to support stakeholder engagement, recruitment, or marketing campaigns, and maintaining a pipeline of content.
* Experience working within the NHS, NIHR, higher education, or a related public/healthcare organisation.
* Experience delivering communications in partnership with multiple organisations.
* Experience supporting or managing crisis or issues communications.


Qualities and Attributes

* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to balance and manage competing priorities.
* Proven ability to build, maintain, and nurture strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior colleagues, external partners, and members of the public.
* Ability to communicate and engage confidently and credibility with stakeholders at all levels, including those outside of the NHS.
* Excellent copywriting and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and persuasive content tailored to different audiences and channels (e.g. press releases, newsletters, staff updates, reports, web content).
* Ability to adapt tone and style depending on the channel and audience.
* Ability and willingness to travel to other Trust sites or partner organisations as required.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to wider team objectives.
* Ability to work flexibly to deliver objectives and support the wider team.
* Understanding of and commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection principles.
* Experience handling sensitive or complex information with discretion and professionalism.
