Site Safety Officer Responsibilities
* Be on-site during all work activities, monitor daily weather, maintain safety materials, conduct site walks, and implement corrective actions.
* Track deficiencies, provide safety logs, and attend pre-construction and safety meetings.
* Deliver weekly safety toolbox meetings, update site-specific safety plans, and ensure compliance with safety and health requirements.
* Conduct safety inspections, maintain records, provide safety training, manage PPE inventory, and ensure effective dust suppression.
* Investigate mishaps, recommend corrective actions, approve decontamination of equipment, and optimize care for injured employees.
Requirements and Experience
* Must have 5 years of recent construction safety oversight experience with no major employment gaps.
* USACE project experience is highly preferred.
* Must be able to obtain military clearance to work on-site (background check required).
Education, Credentials, and Other Requirements
* OSHA 30 Construction Wallet Card issued within the last 5 years (required).
* First Aid, CPR, AED certifications (required).
* 8 hours of proven safety education annually for the past five years, including site-specific safety orientations or classes taught (excluding 30-hour or First Aid CPR courses).
* EM 385 1-1 certification is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
This role requires active oversight of safety on large-scale commercial projects in diverse environments, involving standing, walking, climbing ladders, stooping, entering confined spaces, working on roofs, lifting up to 30 lbs., and navigating rough or uneven terrain. Work conditions may include extreme temperatures, high winds, heavy rain, or snow. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals.
