Department With specialists focused on Estates Development, Estates Operations, and University-wide Facilities, the Estates Directorate collaborates to deliver solutions across both the physical and digital landscapes. Our primary goal is to provide services and facilities that meet the needs both of the University and the broader community, as well as support the University's strategic objectives and commitment to public good by creating a stimulating learning, living and working environment. These vacancies are to join our Estates Operations and Maintenance team which includes fully qualified and semi skilled trades colleagues. We currently have One Vacancy available, for a Plumbing apprentice. About the Role Our wider team carries responsibility for the design and management of all major and minor construction projects in the University together with the responsibility for the management of building fabric, services and grounds. During this fixed-term period (anticipated at up to 4 years) you will participate in an apprenticeship programme to work towards being a qualified Plumbing Tradesperson. Under supervision, you will undertake planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance as part of a multidisciplinary team. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed Details of the main qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications essential to the post (as stated in the ‘person specification’ in the job template) Successful completion of the training partner’s entry requirements and assessment GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent qualification or experience General knowledge of or interest in Electricals, in particular when used within a built environment. (electrician only) A general interest in Plumbing, in particular within a buildings environment (Plumber only) Ability to undertake regular manual work Willingness to attend college on a day or block release basis Evidence of skills and personal attributes as specified in the job description.
