Personal Assistant – Job Description (Reference CDP209)
27‑year‑old female living in the Heath area requires a personal assistant to support her to maximise her independence. She is adventurous, outgoing and is looking for someone similar to support her out in the community and to activities she enjoys. She has a mild learning disability, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Administering medication may be required and training will be provided for this.
Purpose of Job
Support out in the community to activities she enjoys.
Hours of Work
27 hours per week weekdays only, mainly during term time. Hours will be over 4 days a week:
* Mon, Tues & Weds – 9:30am to 4:40pm
* Thursday – 9:30am to 3:30pm
Rate of Pay
£14.70 an hour.
Tasks Involved
* Support out in the community to activities such as swimming, squash, badminton, pickleball and gym.
* Ensure safety at all times.
* Support out to town or pub, shadowing only so she can spend time with friends but have someone around if needed.
Type of Person Required
* Reliable, committed and punctual.
* Understanding of confidentiality and privacy.
* Trustworthy and efficient.
* Would ideally like someone sociable and energetic.
* Enthusiastic in suggesting new activities/ways to fill her day.
* Be able to use own initiative.
* Experience in epilepsy and administering rescue meds is essential.
* Training in providing medication will be compulsory and arranged.
* Car driver with own car is essential.
About the Job
Although a part‑time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
