The Job Profile
Simon & Schuster UK are looking for an Assistant Editor to join our Audio team.
Reporting to the Audio Publisher, the successful candidate will manage part of the S&S Audio list, as well as supporting the wider Audio team with project work and administrative tasks.
The Job Role
The Assistant Editor will be responsible for overseeing a proportion of the S&S Audio list, which spans Adult, YA, and Children’s titles; they will project‑manage and lead on casting and production, ensure that projects remain on schedule and within budget, and communicate plans effectively with authors, agents, and internal teams. They will collaborate closely with Editorial, Marketing and Publicity, Sales and Operations to ensure audio is fully integrated into our wider publishing programme.
The Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be highly organised and detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple audiobook productions efficiently. They will work independently with sound judgment, showing initiative while also knowing when to seek support, and remaining flexible and responsive across a variety of tasks.
They will have previous experience in audiobook publishing, though strong transferable skills from related creative industries will also be considered. They should be a strong project manager with excellent administrative abilities and communication skills.
The role also requires a solid understanding of the audiobook market to support informed commercial decisions, as well as a curious and open‑minded approach as both a reader and listener.
