We are working on behalf of a leading Facilities Management client to appoint a Head of Commercial. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for driving commercial excellence, strengthening governance, and supporting the delivery of complex contracts within a public sector environment.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will lead a team of four and act as a key advisor on all contractual and commercial matters. The role requires a strong focus on contract management, risk, and performance, as well as the ability to support both internal stakeholders and the wider supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial contract management and governance across the business
Establish and maintain robust processes to ensure contractual compliance and control
Manage contractual claims, disputes, and adjudication processes
Drive consistency in contract management, including change control and asset variation
Lead commercial risk management and assurance activities
Develop and standardise commercial processes across contract administration, billable works, and reporting
Provide clear commercial insight to support performance, cost control, and revenue opportunities
Support procurement and supply chain engagement strategies
Build effective relationships with senior stakeholders and operational teams
Support the Commercial Director in delivering strategic objectives and fostering a strong commercial culture
Experience Required
Proven background in commercial contract management within complex environments
Strong experience managing contractual claims, disputes, and risk
In-depth knowledge of NEC4 contracts
Experience working within public sector or government frameworks preferred
Demonstrated ability to implement governance, assurance, and risk frameworks
Experience supporting commercial input into bids and supply chain management

Ability to interpret complex contract terms and commercial data
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Resilient, proactive, and able to operate effectively at a senior level
Capable of influencing stakeholders and driving consistency across teams
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent in Law, Quantity Surveying, or a Built Environment discipline
Ideally chartered or working towards chartership
