Vacancy - Shift TechnicianAre you an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineer looking to develop your experience in a technician role and beyond? Do you have experience in an industrial environment working with heavy plant and equipment? We are seeking a Mechanical Shift Technician to work within a range of Bulk and Break terminals.Your RoleIn this role you will work with the Engineering team within the Bulk and Break Department, to deliver on-time delivery, continuous flow, customer satisfaction and zero defects, across a rolling shift pattern, carrying out maintenance on heavy plant and equipment.You will complete planned and reactive maintenance activities and carry out modifications to all types of heavy plant and equipment, liaising with operations to prioritise breakdown repairs, using fault finding diagnostic techniques and equipment to reduce the impact of reactive maintenance.
You will assist the team when required in a range of activities, including project work, QA systems and Health and Safety. It's vital that all activities are documented and carried out with due care and attention in line with our Health and Safety policy and HSE regulations.What you'll bringYou will be qualified to a minimum of ONC/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, alongside: Experience of working with heavy plant and equipment in an industrial environment, ideally gained within Quarrying or Bulk Handling operations.Extensive practical experience with relevant plant and equipment, including conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.The ability to fault find and problem solve, utilising diagnostic equipment.Possess a sound working knowledge of Permit to Work systems and incident reporting.Knowledge of CMMS i.e. SAP and document sharing software as well as effective maintenance strategies such as RCM, PM, CBM & TPM is advantageous.A full valid Driving Licence is essential for this role.Who are we?Already one of the UK's leading port and logistics companies, with a turnover in excess of £500 million, we are planning substantial capital investment over the next 5 years to achieve our vision of becoming the UK's leading port operator.
