Overview
Bring your energy, empathy and EYFS know-how to a friendly, well-resourced primary school in Barnet. We’re seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children aged 3–5, including pupils with emerging or identified SEND, so they get the very best start to school life.
What You’ll Do
* Support high-quality learning in Nursery/Reception through play-based, structured activities and continuous provision.
* Deliver targeted small-group/1:1 interventions (early phonics, language, fine/gross motor skills, early maths).
* Assist with observation and assessment (EYFS framework), contributing to next steps and progress tracking.
* Champion inclusion: adapt resources, use visuals/now–next boards, and apply strategies for SEND/EAL.
* Promote excellent behaviour for learning, wellbeing and independence—indoors and outdoors.
* Communicate effectively with teachers and parents/carers; uphold safeguarding and school policies.
About You
* Experience in EYFS (Nursery/Reception) within UK primary settings; CACHE/NVQ L2/3 or equivalent desirable.
* Confident with phonics (e.g., Little Wandle/Read Write Inc.) and early communication approaches.
* Warm, proactive and reliable; able to build trust quickly with young children and colleagues.
* Knowledge of SEND strategies (e.g., ASD, SLCN, SEMH) and a commitment to inclusive practice.
* Up-to-date safeguarding/first aid (or willing to undertake training).
Why join?
* Supportive senior leadership and collaborative staff team.
* Ongoing CPD and coaching via Teach Now, plus access to a network of Barnet schools.
* Well-equipped EYFS environments (inside/outside), strong routines and a positive, nurturing culture.
* Real impact: see daily progress as children grow in confidence and skills.
