An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need and making their day easier, providing you with a real sense of achievement.
Responsibilities
* Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
* Work in two-person crews or alone; hold a full UK driving licence and maintain a good level of physical fitness.
* Assist with the transportation of end-of-life service users with empathy and care.
* Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Lift, secure and help service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Hand over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
* Transfer patients between beds, stretchers, and chairs as required, including during medical or air transfers.
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Keep the ambulance clean, safe and tidy.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Committed to patient care.
* Effective communicator; able to work in emotional circumstances.
* Calm, considerate driver with no more than three penalty points on your license.
* Strong team working and collaboration skills.
* Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Hold a valid UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points.
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
* Be able to work flexible shifts; familiar with the local and surrounding area.
