Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Newton Aycliffe, County Durham
Job Role
To support the class teacher in delivering high-quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework. The role involves helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that supports the development of children aged 3–5 years.
Key Responsibilities
Support the planning and delivery of creative, play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS curriculum
Assist in observing, assessing, and recording children’s progress
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils, including those with additional needs
Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and well-organised classroom environment
Promote positive behaviour and support children’s social and emotional development
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff members
Assist with personal care needs where required
Support children during transitions, break times, and outdoor learning
Contribute to maintaining learning journals and records
Build positive relationships with parents and carers
Essential:
Experience working with children in an EYFS or similar setting
Good understanding of the EYFS framework
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Desirable:
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification
Experience supporting children with SEND
Paediatric First Aid qualification

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
