Mechanical Design Engineer (H/F) - SAFRAN SEATS GB LIMITED
Safran Seats is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aircraft seats for crew and passengers. 1 million Safran Seats are currently in service in aircraft fleets worldwide.
Mission description: To support design activities that will provide mechanical design solutions from initial concept through to product manufacture.
Responsibilities
* Design and detail model a variety of suite components to meet programme requirements.
* Produce designs that achieve specified cost and weight targets.
* Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
* Participate in design reviews throughout the New Product Introduction process.
* Select and apply materials and processes appropriate to each design element; ensure successful integration of each design within the product as a whole.
* Check engineering packages and participate in product validation (e.g., prototyping, testing, DFMEA).
* Follow and contribute to Best Practice guidelines.
* Be prepared to undertake tasks outside of normal duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications
* Essential: Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering (or HNC/HND with extensive experience in mechanical systems design).
* Essential: Proficiency with CATIA V5 (or other 3D CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
* Essential: Understanding of tolerances and manufacturing processes; knowledge of OEM installation requirements.
* Essential: Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, plastics vacuum forming, CNC machining.
* Essential: Ability to read mechanical design drawings and specifications.
* Essential: Experience working with Boeing and Airbus interior design specifications or equivalent OEM specs.
