Overview
Job summary: Although advertised as Band 8a, we welcome applications from newly qualified candidates to commence at Band 7, with support to complete preceptorship requirements to progress to Band 8a. The role links with four primary care networks across the West Norfolk locality to deliver psychological assessment, formulation and treatment to service users within primary care networks. The successful applicant will provide consultation and supervision related to psychological approaches to staff in the primary care network space and will work closely with both the adult CMHT and primary care in West Norfolk.
Main duties of the job: The post is based at Chatterton House in Kings Lynn, working across the West Norfolk Locality with a focus on the primary care network in West Norfolk.
The post holder will hold a number of responsibilities including:
* Providing a timely and evidence-based psychologically informed response and treatment to clinically complex situations in primary care.
* Providing clarity for service users on their difficulties and what might be most helpful for them.
* Supporting the PCN-MHP in their role with clinical issues.
* Initiating thinking from service users and clinicians about consistent treatment pathways for the person’s difficulty.
* Developing links between primary and secondary mental health care.
* Attending meetings within scope of the interface psychology team, such as initial assessment meetings, interface and triage.
About us
This advert details an opportunity for Clinical Psychologists or suitably trained and experienced Counselling or Forensic Psychologists to join NSFT. The post-holder will be part of the wider Wider Norfolk Psychology team and will receive clinical supervision, professional and governance support. The team includes clinical psychologists, CBT, CAT and DBT therapists, Art Therapy, Clinical Associate Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists. Training and development opportunities are available across the service.

Job responsibilities
The banding offered will reflect the experience of the successful candidate, and the support and development package will be tailored to the individual's needs.
Specific tasks could include:
* Providing assessment, formulation and interventions for services users in the PCN space.
* Working as part of an MDT to provide high-quality assessment and intervention to service users.
* Application of NICE-recommended therapeutic interventions and development of bespoke interventions for risk reduction and risk management as required.
* Collaborating with colleagues to develop wider knowledge of applying psychological approaches in the PCN space.
* Providing consultancy to other professionals working in the PCN space.
* Providing teaching and training to staff and external organisations (e.g., University of East Anglia).

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Qualifications
1. Post-graduate degree in clinical psychology, accredited by BPS (or due to finish within six months).
2. Registered (or eligible) as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC.
Experience
1. Experience with a wide variety and severity of client groups and clinical problems in various settings, maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
2. Experience working in an MDT and representing a psychological profession.
Desirable
1. CPD in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice.
2. Experience of supervision and/or teaching.
Skills
1. Skilled in complex psychological assessment, intervention and management.
2. Ability to communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals, within and outside the NHS.
Knowledge
1. Doctor-level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis.
2. Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical context.
