Job overview

Are you an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner looking to make a real impact in a dynamic and fast-paced emergency setting? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ACP to join our Emergency Department (ED) team, working predominately within our Children's Emergency Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of emergency care, playing a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a busy and diverse environment.

Main duties of the job

The AP will be expected to practice across the four pillars of Advanced Practice: Clinical, Leadership and Management and Research. They will fulfil the expectations and capabilities outlined in the Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England.

An established/qualified AP will deliver patient-centred care with a high degree of autonomy, independent assessment and clinical decision-making.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria

1. First-level degree (HEI Level 5 or 6) or equivalent in the undergraduate base profession
2. NMC or HCPC registration
3. Masters in Advanced Practice or equivalent, which maps across the 4 pillars
4. Qualified as a non-medical prescriber (if able under professional registration)
5. Evidence of continuing professional development. (including further level 7 modules that support practice)
6. Accreditation as an Advanced Practitioner of willingness to work towards (including NHSE digital badge) or Royal College of Emergency Medicine ACP portfolio.

Desirable criteria

7. Post-graduate management and/or leadership training
8. Qualification in teaching

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

9. Substantial post-registration experience and three years experience working at band 7 or equivalent.
10. Experience in complex case management.
11. Experience working independently at Advanced Practice level
12. Excellent clinical acumen and practical procedural skills (with evidence of competency and capability) as an independent practitioner, as per Job Description for role
13. Demonstrate an in depth knowledge and experience of clinical examination, history taking, pharmacology, pathophysiology, etc.
14. Experience of instigating and interpreting investigations and initiating appropriate plans of care for patients.
15. Experience of multi-agency / multi-disciplinary team working across service interfaces.
16. Evidence of teaching and sharing knowledge with others in the MDT or externally to organisation.
17. Demonstration of leadership in clinical practice
18. Evidence of involvement of audit/quality improvement/successful change management

Desirable criteria

19. Experience working in Emergency department or similar setting, extensive experience in paediatric emergency care

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria

20. Excellent effective verbal and written communication skills
21. Highly motivated and have the ability to motivate others
22. Ability to effectively prioritise workload
23. Ability to educate and clinical supervise others in the promotion of high standards of patient care
24. Commitment to training and continuous development of self and others
25. Ability to appraise evidence, using analytical and problem-solving skills to inform decision-making, and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
26. Ability to communicate highly complex information situations including where there are barriers to understanding.
27. Ability to identify, develop and implement risk management and clinical governance systems at an expert level.
28. Computer literate – word, excel, PowerPoint

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

29. Ability to travel cross site and to community.
30. Ability to work days/nights/rotation
31. Enhanced level DBS
