Education Wellbeing Officer - fixed term until 01/10/2026

Salary: £39,129 - £46,023 (pro-rata for part-time)
Hours: 24 per week, 52 weeks
The Education Wellbeing Service (EWS) supports children, young people and their families working with schools, partners and families collaboratively to address barriers to school attendance. The EWS aims to promote wellbeing and inclusion. The service operates through 4 core functions: Consultation and Advice, Assessment and Intervention, Data for Improvement, and Professional Learning including family education and wellbeing programmes. The EWS also assists schools in implementing the local authority Maximising School Attendance Policy, supporting key transition points, Children Missing in Education, MARAC, EEI, Part-time Timetables and GRT, Refugee and Migrant families.
Responsibilities
* Work within an EWS locality team to collaborate with schools and learning communities.
* Provide advice and support to schools using data to inform priority areas of work.
* Work with schools through the Attendance Lead, school staff and other agencies to co-construct collaborative approaches to enable families to get the right support at the right time.
* Offer targeted work with children, young people and families through GIRFEC as part of the team around the child, including attending meetings in schools, visiting family homes and supporting families in the community.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous experience of working with children, young people and families is essential.
* Ability to work with initiative and flexibility, manage time effectively, and maintain strong communication within a locality team and with partners.
* Experience or knowledge of working with Gypsy/Roma/Traveller (GRT) and/or refugee and migrant families is desirable.
Regulatory and Checks
* This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
* If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outwith the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.
* An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to satisfactory outcome of both pre-employment checks.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually to reach the top of the range. Flexible working options are available.
