Offer description

Overview

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate for an ERC Advanced project studying the evolutionary biology of antibiotic resistance led by Craig MacLean.

Antibiotic resistance has emerged as a fundamental threat to health and prosperity. We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to study the evolutionary processes that drive the rise and fall of antibiotic resistance using genomic methods. This will involve analyzing sequence data from bacterial isolates collected during a clinical trial and from large scale lab evolution experiments. The postholder will work as part of a large team (computational and experimental postdocs, PhD students, research assistant) with access to cutting-edge experimental and computational facilities. The postholder will have the opportunity to regularly interact with collaborating researchers in Oxford and across Europe.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for ambitious researchers who are interested in applying genomic approaches to understand the evolutionary drivers of antibiotic resistance as part of a diverse and friendly team. The position is ideally suited for researchers with a background in evolutionary biology and microbial genomics.
