The Role
Salary: £41,771 to £46,142, pay award pending. Bolton Libraries, Museums and Culture are recruiting an experienced Museums and Heritage Manager to lead and manage a team delivering services across Bolton’s museums, archives, aquarium and heritage spaces. The role will oversee collections development and play a lead role in planning and delivering our extensive programme of exhibitions and events. We pride ourselves on being a vibrant, accessible and welcoming visitor destination, however we recognise that there is always more that can be done and that’s why this role will prioritise projects and partnerships that support community priorities, enhance visitor experiences, and promote access to heritage.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team delivering services across museums, archives, aquarium and heritage spaces.
* Oversee collections development.
* Plan and deliver extensive programme of exhibitions and events.
* Prioritise projects and partnerships that support community priorities and enhance visitor experiences.
* Manage budgets and seek out funding opportunities.
* Support staff development and promote volunteer opportunities.
* Manage risk and compliance, maintaining standards set by accreditation and zoo licence schemes.
* Represent the service at various levels, deputising for senior leadership when needed.
* Balance needs of multiple projects and partners simultaneously, including capital projects, heritage programmes, external funders, and colleagues across various Bolton Council departments.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Excellent communicator, capable of representing the service at various levels.
* Experience in managing budgets and funding opportunities.
* Experience in risk and compliance management according to standards set by accreditation and zoo licence schemes.
* Ability to balance multiple projects, partners, capital projects and programmes.
* Specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
