Join Our Apprenticeship Programme and Shape Your Future

Embark on a journey with us through our Apprenticeship programme, where we prioritise your growth and success beyond the training period. We are committed to equipping you with lifelong skills in a supportive and encouraging work environment, ensuring your career aspirations become a reality.

What Does a Construction Engineer Do?

This is an Engineer who carries out a wide range of tasks including fault finding, repair, servicing and maintenance on machinery, plant and associated equipment including powered tools and utilities. Unlike marine or aviation equipment, this role focuses specifically on land-based machinery.

Your Three-Year Apprenticeship Journey:

Year 1: Begin with foundational tasks such as machinery inspections, guided by your line manager and mentor. You’ll spend 16 weeks in total at College in England or Scotland in up to 4 week block release sessions, with travel and accommodation expenses covered.

Year 2: Expand your skills by diagnosing faults and performing repairs and maintenance on plant machinery. Another 10-week stint at college awaits in Year 2.

Year 3: Take on increased responsibilities, including advising on machinery repairs for customers and diagnosing complex faults. Again, you’ll spend 10 weeks at college, away from home.

Unlock Your Career Potential:

We offer a competitive starting salary of £21,000 in the first year, increasing to approximately £27,000 upon qualification. You’ll receive on‑job training alongside a college education leading to a nationally recognised “Construction Equipment Level 3” qualification. Successful completion of the apprenticeship scheme also guarantees a permanent position at VP if still employed with VP at the end of your Apprenticeship.

Are You the Right Fit?

Minimum qualifications include Grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English Language (or Grade 5 or above in Scottish Highers), along with strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, any relevant work experience and a genuine interest in engineering and / or equipment maintenance. Completing our application form thoughtfully, showcasing your personality and interest in our programme, is essential.

Join Our Dynamic Team:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dedicated team, where you’ll play a crucial role in delivering top-quality hire equipment which exceeds customer expectations. With exciting growth prospects and a commitment to superior customer service in the construction and housebuilding industries, we invite you to build your future alongside us as VP continues to evolve and thrive.

This is an Engineer who works on their own initiative in their own vehicle carrying out a wide range of tasks including fault finding, repair, servicing and maintenance on machinery, plant and associated equipment. Unlike marine or aviation equipment, this role focuses specifically on land-based machinery.

After successful completion all qualified apprentices are offered a permanent position relevant to their qualification if still employed with VP. This is just the start as the opportunity to develop further as a qualified engineer is available (Senior, Technical etc).
