The successful candidate will join a committed staff team focused on delivering the Curriculum for Wales, with an emphasis on creativity, literacy, numeracy, and pupil well-being.
As a Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils aged 7–11 years (Years 3–6) on a full-time basis. You will work alongside the class teacher to enhance learning, provide targeted support, and help pupils overcome barriers to education—particularly those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
Classroom Support:
Assist the teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
Prepare and organise classroom materials and learning resources
Support pupils during whole-class teaching, group work, and independent tasks
Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment
Pupil Support:
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs (e.g. literacy difficulties, behavioural challenges)
Support small intervention groups in areas such as reading, writing, and numeracy
Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and engagement
Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Person Specification:
Essential:
Experience working with children in an educational or care setting (minimum of 6 months)
Good understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
Strong literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
Desirable:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
Knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales
