Location: Peterborough, UK
Salary: £24,500, Share Scheme, Pension, Flexible working, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
We currently have opportunities for industrial placement students to join Caterpillar. We are looking for talented, ambitious people from various backgrounds who are interested in a placement year and in return will provide training, mentoring, and support for a successful year.
Responsibilities
* During your placement you will work with teams focused on the integration, development, application and validation of electrical and electronic control systems for diesel engine, electric drivetrain or construction equipment products.
* You will be an active team member on real development projects with exposure to:
* System specifications
* Embedded software design and development
* Control system modelling and analysis
* Component selection and validation
* System level development and validation
* Product health analysis or quality issue resolution
You will collaborate with team members worldwide as part of the Caterpillar global team and receive coaching, guidance and support for your work, personal development and professional accreditation.
Who we are looking for
* Applicants should be on target to achieve a minimum 2:2 honours degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Aeronautical, Aerospace, Agricultural, Automotive, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Maths and Physical Sciences).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues within the Caterpillar global team. Travel to customer sites within Europe may be required.
Additional Information
* This role is based in the Peterborough office and requires 5 days per week on site.
Recruitment Process
* Online Application: submit your CV before the closing date; applications are reviewed after the close date.
* Stage 1 – Video Interview: if selected, you will complete a video interview and may be invited to an Assessment Centre (week of 24th November 2025).
* Stage 2 – Assessment Centre: evaluates teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving.
* Stage 3 – Offer: offers extended to preferred candidates; placement starts on 6th July 2026.
