As a trustee with financial skills, you can help ensure appropriate financial controls and processes are in place and support the Board in making informed financial decisions.
We are at an exciting stage in the organisation's development which will enable our resources to be more accessible and at the start of a new social justice strategy.
What are we looking for?
Essential
* Proven ability to communicate and present financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders such as funders.
* Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrable good judgement.
* Understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
* Senior level managerial and leadership experience
* Commitment to the charity’s mission and values and willingness to act as ambassador to stakeholders
* Experience of working with or for charities
* Recognised accounting qualification
Desirable
* Previous experience as a charity trustee
* Previous experience as a company director
* Skills in, and experience, of strategic planning
* Knowledge of the social justice/legal/publishing sector

What will you be doing?
Main Responsibilities
* Providing financial oversight and scrutiny at board level
* Chairing the Finance Committee and providing regular reports to the Board of Trustees
* Reviewing budgets, management accounts and financial forecasts
* Ensuring appropriate financial controls and processes are in place
* Supporting the Board in making informed financial decisions
* Working closely with the executive team on financial planning
* Introducing and sharing contacts, ideas and networks to further the mission
We are seeking a qualified accountant with experience of financial management including some experience of charity finances.
Previous Charity Trustee Experience Is Welcome But Not Essential.
Time commitment 3–6 hours per month, including
* Board meetings every two months
* Finance sub‑committee meeting monthly
* Preparation for meetings
* Annual strategy day
