Job Summary:
Technical management and maintenance of existing production lines and development and introduction of new processes and tooling to support new products to the line.
Role Responsibilities, Experience, Selection Criteria:
The role provides the opportunity to undertake a wide range of tasks and enables the successful candidate to be a Manufacturing Engineer. There will be opportunities to make improvements to the cars business in its day-to-day activities and influence the way it could operate in the future.
Investigate opportunities to embrace new technologies and innovations into the Lotus manufacturing environment to improve both efficiencies and overall product quality.
Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer Technician Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities could include any, or a combination of, the following:
1. Learn to promote and maintain a healthy, safe, and clean working environment at all times.
2. Production & Project support as requested
3. Gain skills to support investigation of Concern / Problem resolution
4. Identify build issues/concerns and make relevant parties aware. Assist in finding solutions and follow all actions for resolution on Continuous Improvement tracking system
5. Study operations sequence, material flow, fixturing / tooling, process documents / statements with the aim of improving line balancing, throughput, and efficient working procedures
6. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
7. Creation / development and maintenance of Process Sheets from engineering released data (PCO).
8. Publish clear and concise information including all aspect of People / Process / Plant / Parts, to manufacturing
9. Learn to create Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA’s) from the output of Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA’s)
10. Perform time studies for all Product / Process / Component changes to ensure manufacturing's ability to achieve to required Quality / Cost / Deliver elements
11. Support implementation, control and closure of Deviations from standard production processes.
12. Support new tooling / fixtures design and development / specification for introduction into manufacturing environment
13. Support of tooling, equipment & facilities specification, procurement, installation, commissioning
14. Prove out new tooling and fixtures and provide constructive feedback.
15. Maintenance of tooling & jig registers
16. Support the build of cars during EP, VP, Pilot and SOP phases.
17. Populate and maintain Station Readiness metrics.
18. Plan / Do / Check / Action all initiatives, tasks and agreed actions to ensure their full achievement to Launch Plan
Apprenticeship:
Candidate will be expected to:
19. meet the Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship entry criteria. Have 5 GCSE's at Grade A*-C/4-9, including Mathematics, English and a Science, Technology or Engineering related subject, as well as A Levels at grade C or above in both a Mathematical based subject and a Science, Technology, Engineering or additional Mathematics related subject, or 90+ credits in an Engineering BTEC at level 3.
20. commit to full participation in the apprenticeship, fully funded by Lotus, who will provide you sufficient time for off the job learning, in accordance with apprenticeship rules.
