Overview
The Specialist Children’s Short Breaks Service is a six bed service providing overnight short breaks for children and young people aged 4 to 19 years old with severe learning disabilities and other complex needs such as complex health, physical disabilities and behaviours that challenge.
We are seeking a talented and experienced individual to lead and manage the Short Breaks Unit. You should be willing to undertake the role of registered manager in line with OFSTED requirements and have experience of working within learning disabilities as a registered Band 6 LD nurse.
The team consists of registered learning disability nurses and Healthcare Support Workers all with great knowledge, training and experience.
As part of the interview process, you will be required to satisfy the Ofsted requirements as a fit and appropriate person for a children’s home and either hold or be willing to work towards a Level 5 diploma in leadership and management in residential childcare.

Responsibilities
The post holder will coordinate, lead and support the staff team to deliver a high-quality short break service to children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex health needs and behaviours of concern. Ensuring that the service meets all National Minimum Standards and Regulations for Children’s Homes and other relevant legislation, Ofsted, CQC requirements, and Trust policies and procedures. The post holder will be responsible for managing the service resources, budget and the staff team to ensure that it operates in a way which maximises the quality of care provided. The post holder will work collaboratively with other providers, commissioners and other key stakeholders, to develop the service and maintain its high standards of care and provision.

Qualifications
Experience of working within learning disabilities as a registered Band 6 LD nurse. Willingness to undertake the role of registered manager in line with OFSTED requirements. Willingness to work towards a Level 5 diploma in leadership and management in residential childcare. OFSTED requirements as a fit and appropriate person for a children’s home. Registered manager with Ofsted/CQC.
