We are seeking a Clinical Veterinary Surgeon to join our Department of Veterinary Services at our world-class preclinical facility in Tranent. You’ll become part of a supportive team of 5 veterinarians and dedicated technical staff, all committed to exceptional animal welfare and scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities
* Act as Deputy Named Veterinary Surgeon in accordance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act
* Provide clinical care across a broad range of laboratory and farm animal species
* Deliver medical and surgical case management
* Support research studies through specialist veterinary input (e.g. anaesthesia, surgery, ophthalmology)
* Advocate for animal welfare and ethical standards in partnership with the Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body (AWERB)
* Communicate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
* Participate in a shared out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (non‑onerous)
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Eligibility for Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) membership
* Veterinary degree with relevant clinical experience
* Strong medical and surgical skills transferable across species
* Excellent observational, fine motor, and communication skills
* Confidence working within regulatory and ethical frameworks
* Willingness to expand and diversify clinical expertise
Laboratory animal experience is advantageous but not required — full training provided.
