We are looking to recruit as part of the on-going commitment to adopter participation and incorporating lived experience into Adoption East Midlands service development and wider support offer.
Peers4Peers is a peer support service within Adoption East Midlands (AEM), created and delivered by adopters for adopters.
Peers4Peers was developed to:
* Create a welcoming community that provides informal peer support
* Offer different forms of peer support, recognising the bravery it takes to seek help
* Value and prioritise the lived experiences of adopters
* Build a community that listens, is supportive, and truly “gets it”
This post supports the continued development of adopter voice, participation, and lived experience within our service offer.
You will work creatively alongside AEM staff to support and develop the Peers4Peers adopter peer mentoring service. This includes the recruitment, training, development, and ongoing support of experienced adopter peer mentor volunteers.
Peers4Peers enables peer mentors to support adopters at different stages of their adoption journey through:
* Short-term one-to-one support
* Small group sessions
* Drop-in sessions
The Peer Network Coordinator will:
* Provide advice and guidance to peer mentors while acting as a positive role model
* Engage and support peer mentors, enabling their active participation across the service
* Support the inclusion of adopter lived experience within AEM training offers
* Enable peer mentors to contribute to service development through co-production
* Positively influence and represent the voice of adopters across the region
You will be:
* An experienced adoptive parent
* Passionate about peer mentoring and community support
* Comfortable sharing aspects of your lived experience in a range of settings
* An excellent communicator with strong listening and relationship-building skills
* Confident maintaining a virtual presence within the adoption community via the AEM website and social media
As this is a regional role covering Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City, Derbyshire, and Derby City, a willingness and ability to travel across the area is essential.
This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a creative and meaningful project. You will receive:
* Regular supervision
* Ongoing training
* Opportunities to develop your skills
* A supportive and friendly working environment
The recruitment process will include:
* An informal group interview with the existing Family Peer Network Coordinator to explore the role and ask questions (Weds 3rd June)
* A formal interview (Monday 8th June)
We particularly welcome applications from male applicants and applicants from the global majority.
For an informal discussion about this opportunity please contact Victoria Pike on 07787101482 or by email victoria.pike@adoptioneastmidlands.nottscc.gov.uk.
Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
