Job Description: Commercial Contracts Lawyer
Our national commercial team brings together experts across various sectors, including general commercial, digital, IP, energy and renewables, projects, and procurement. We serve FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 clients, public sector organizations, educational institutions, and industry bodies, handling high-profile projects and regulatory matters. Our team, one of the largest in its field, includes sector specialists across industries such as manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace, energy, transport, and international trade. We are located across UK offices and collaborate with US colleagues and international member firms, providing a blend of City presence and local knowledge to foreign investors in the UK.
We are looking for a 3+ to senior PQE commercial contracts lawyer to support our growing pipeline of projects.
What does the team do?
We advise on contractual arrangements related to strategic projects and daily business across diverse industries, with a focus on supporting advanced manufacturing, life sciences, energy transition, and decarbonisation projects. Our work includes procurement, supply chain management, product development, and routes to market, involving contract strategy, drafting, negotiation, data protection, and risk management.
Joining us means working with a diverse team that values support and creativity, providing in-house style support to businesses without internal legal teams. You will collaborate with industry veterans and work on multi-jurisdictional projects, supporting large industrial projects, SMEs, and expansion into markets like the USA and Saudi Arabia. There are also opportunities for international secondments.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
We seek a lawyer with over 3 years of post-qualification experience in commercial contracts, preferably from a City or large regional firm or in-house. Experience with international clients, import/export, tech, IP, and data protection is advantageous. Essential skills include excellent drafting, communication, enthusiasm for the practice area, and a commitment to delivering top-tier client service.
Minimum requirements:
* At least 3 years of post-qualified experience in commercial contracts as a UK solicitor.
* Experience in a commercial environment, with practical contract law application from a reputable firm or in-house role.
* Expertise in complex transactions, including supply chain, procurement, outsourcing, R&D, and sales channels.
* Ability to communicate complex legal advice clearly and practically to non-lawyers.
