Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a key project at the Port of Blyth, supporting the installation and operation of a crawler used for trenching and laying utility cables. The role requires a skilled tradesperson capable of installing new parts, refurbishing equipment, and performing mechanical maintenance in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Build, assemble, and maintain the crawler and associated mechanical equipment.
Install and replace components, including internal gears and seals (trade test will be required).
Operate equipment safely in line with project procedures.
Interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
Conduct fault diagnostics, repair, and general maintenance on mechanical systems.
Perform rigging tasks as required for equipment installation and movement.
Work under health and safety guidelines, ensuring all tasks meet industry and project standards.
Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, and maintenance activities.Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, ideally in civil, utility, or heavy plant projects.
Overhead Crane Ticket and rigging experience essential.
MJI / TMJI certifications required.
Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
Skilled in fitting, fault finding, and mechanical assembly.
Able to complete a trade test on internal gears and seals.Desirable Skills:
Experience working with crawlers, trenching machines, or heavy plant.
Prior exposure to civil utility or infrastructure projects.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Contract Details:
