Teaching Assistant – Durham Teaching Personnel is recruiting a full time Teaching Assistant for a specialist secondary school in Durham. Supporting students aged 11 to 16 with Special Educational Needs. What you'll be doing: Providing tailored support to students with SEND, meeting individual needs academically and personally. Working with teachers to adapt resources and deliver engaging lessons. Offering 1:1 and small group support, building positive relationships, promoting independence. Assisting with EHCP implementation. Maintaining safe, structured, inclusive learning environments. Encouraging social skills and positive behaviour. Liaising with staff, parents and external professionals. You need: Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (ideally in secondary settings) Patient, compassionate and resilient approach Ability to build trust and rapport with students Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset Adaptability and creativity in meeting diverse learning needs Effective behaviour management skills Genuine commitment to promoting student independence and confidence Contract: Full time, temp Location: Durham, Ages 11 to 16 If you've got SEND experience and want to make a real impact, send your CV or call.
