About the role… We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to join our ambitious Technology team based at our Slimming World Head Office in Alfreton. This is a full-time hybrid role, giving you the best of both worlds, time spent collaborating face-to-face with your team in the office, alongside the flexibility of working from home on other days. Our Platform Engineers are responsible for building and running the cloud platform that underpins our websites, member services and internal systems. Creating secure, repeatable infrastructure, to improve deployment pipelines, and make it easier for engineering teams to ship changes safely and frequently. Day-to-day you’ll work with Azure services within an Azure-first environment, ideally bringing experience working with Azure or transferable skills from AWS or GCP platforms. You’ll also work closely with our team of Software Engineers and Testers to keep our platform scalable, secure and cost-effective. Helping to shape standards and ways of working around Infrastructure-as-Code, Kubernetes operations and automated delivery. Ultimately you’ll contribute to continuous improvements so our teams can release software with confidence. About you… You’ll enjoy empowering other Engineers to do their best work, take pride in building reliable platforms, and be genuinely passionate about improving how systems are operated and delivered. You’ll also be motivated by making cloud environments secure, scalable and easy to use. While bringing great interpersonal and influencing skills to facilitate effective collaboration across our Development, QA and Product teams. We'd love to hear from you if you also have… strong cloud platform engineering experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP), with the ability to transfer your skills into an Azure-first environment solid Kubernetes knowledge, ideally AKS, although experience with EKS/GKE or self-managed clusters is equally valuable good containerisation experience, including building and running workloads with Docker experience using Infrastructure as Code to create repeatable environments (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tooling) the ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred), improving deployment safety, speed and consistency a solid grasp of cloud networking, identity, and security principles (e.g., VNets/VPCs, private connectivity, RBAC, certificate and secrets management) Crucially, you’ll also have familiarity with observability and operational methodologies (monitoring, logging, alerting) and can demonstrate a practical approach to system reliability and incident response. You’ll be committed to improving the Developer experience through the creation of templates, documentation, and self-service tools that facilitate delivery team workflows. Along with experience collaborating in Agile or hybrid teams, working closely with Engineers, Testers, and product stakeholders.
