Civil Engineer (Water Sector)
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
I am currently working on behalf of a well-established engineering consultancy to appoint a Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major pipeline of work linked to AMP8 and beyond, supporting UK Water Authorities on large-scale infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and dynamic team, contributing to the design and delivery of a wide range of water sector projects, including potable water networks, foul drainage, CSO remediation works, and both Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) and conventional surface water drainage schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake civil engineering design for water infrastructure projects
Deliver designs for potable water mains, foul drainage, and surface water systems
Support CSO remediation and SuDS design projects
Prepare and manage statutory approvals (e.g. S104, S106)
Utilise software such as MicroDrainage and/or InfoDrainage for 3D modelling
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
Contribute to a high-quality, client-focused service deliveryCandidate Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred)
3+ years’ experience within the water sector (design and/or construction)
Experience with potable, surface, and foul water systems
Familiarity with statutory approval processes (S104, S106 etc.)
Experience or exposure to SAB / SuDS approvals
Proficiency with MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or similar design tools
Working towards or willing to pursue Chartership (ICE, CIWEM or similar)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
