Please note automatic promotion is not guaranteed Dynamic working pattern: The opportunity: We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and high-calibre Mechanical Architect to join the FC/ASW project as Head of Missile Hardware. As Mechanical Architects, we are involved in all aspects of missile development, from the early feasibility studies to series production and in-service support within MBDA. In this particular Architecture role you will focus on the strategic management of development and proving hardware. This means recognising and streamlining hardware requirements, ensuring that the hardware plan is as efficient and effective as possible, ensuring that the hardware supply chain is delivering OTOCOQ, spotting and delivering opportunities for hardware reuse and other efficiencies. You will need to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels in the Project and across many different subsystems. This role will report directly to the Chief Design Engineer Key Responsibilities Working with project Chiefs to establish development hardware delivery strategy Working with stakeholders across the project to ensure that the strategy is delivered OTOCOQ Identifying opportunities to improve hardware delivery for project Reacting to changes in order to maintain most effective hardware delivery strategy Ensuring hardware delivery plan is up-to-date and realistic Working with hardware customers and suppliers to define the minimal hardware standard that can satisfy the trial need What we’re looking for from you: Considerable experience of MBDA design, manufacturing and procurement processes Have developed a network of people working within design, manufacturing, procurement and trials Needs to understand systems engineering process e.g. requirements, design, test, evidence Needs to understand all methods by which requirements can be met or demonstrated Needs to appreciate when something is “good enough” Work with config management to ensure robust design management Ability to plan the delivery of materials, really driving through the resolution of problems, always finding a way to work around them if needed.
