This role is based within Esh Living’s new build housing division which delivers medium-to-large-scale affordable housing developments, as well as multi-apartment retirement living and extra care developments. This division takes projects from the early stages of development, through pre-construction, technical and on-site delivery. About the role: We’re seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of contracts within our sector. You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are on track financially, ensure smooth operations, and deliver measurable value. Location: Leeds What we will expect from you: Build working relationships with supply chain, consultants, and clients where appropriate Procurement of sub-contractors in line with target programme and company policy Contract administration of sub-contracts Timely and accurate assessment and payment of sub-contractors’ applications and issue of payment notifications to sub-contractor Preparation and submission of external valuations in a timely manner to align with the contract requirements Management and accurate forecasting of the external valuations through to the final account agreement with our Clients Measurement of quantities both on site and from drawings, where required Timely and accurate evaluation of variations/provisional sum expenditure and monitoring of the same Civils -Weekly direct labour & plant subcontractor payments if required Accurate production of internal valuations, sub-contract liabilities and cost value reconciliations in line with the Commercial reporting timetable Ensure good quality & accurate records are maintained Delay identification/notification/ in tandem with project team Effective change management in line with contract Manage and minimise non recoverable costs on projects Price and effectively agree all project variations It is not possible for this document to totally encompass or define all tasks that may be required of the post holder. Qualifications: Relevant HND, Degree in Quantity Surveying, Built environment or equivalent, desirable Minimum of three years’ experience working on projects within construction sector Working knowledge of contract conditions such as NEC,JCT Proficient in the use of MS Office Appropriate CSCS card -desirable Valid Driving licence Attributes & Skills: Good communication skills, both oral and written Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels Excellent attention to detail Prioritise and plan to deliver agreed objectives Able to produce accurate work within required deadlines Keep people informed of progress on key tasks Takes responsibility for managing own performance and personal development Conducts themselves in a courteous and professional manner Good negotiation skills
