Role Overview
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will manage client and Mott MacDonald obligations on clean and waste water and environmental projects. Working as part of the Core Team within the Environment and Water Portfolio, you will closely collaborate with the wider Advisory Project and Programme management teams to deliver project deliverables to client expectations. You will work to deliver complex projects on time, cost, and quality with a commitment to safety, drive innovation in service delivery, and advise the team and integrated client. You will take ownership of projects, identify and monitor risks and opportunities, manage stakeholders, and ensure good project governance.
Candidate Specification
* Quantity Surveying degree or other commercially related discipline or extensive experience in Programme and Project commercial pre‑ and post‑contract activities, including all activities associated with Cost Management
* Ideally Chartered MRICS or working towards chartered status and a commitment to CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
* Extensive experience in setting and implementing procurement strategies, running tenders, advising on contract conditions and amendments, particularly NEC
* Demonstrable experience in Commercial and Cost standards and procedures and the ability to make sound financial decisions on matters of significant value
* Previous experience of commercial management and administration of a wide range of contracts, including writing, placing and administering contracts, particularly NEC, and experience in using CEMAR or similar
* Contract and procurement advice, cost analysis, due diligence, cost control, forecasting, monitoring, cost reporting and post‑contract management on projects, programmes and D & B contracts, ensuring deliverability within the funding envelope and compliance with governance
* Experience in developing a Commercial and Cost Team, establishing clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities
* Strong client and stakeholder relationship skills and effective communication across the project delivery, client, supply chain and stakeholder teams
* Excellent IT, oral and written communication, organisational and analytical skills
* Flexibility in work location, with travel required 2–3 times weekly depending on project
Desirable
* Experience in the water, environment and regulated industries
* Ability to operate autonomously and as part of a larger multi‑disciplinary team providing commercial support
* Preferred experience in using electronic measurement systems and other cost and contract management tools
